School Dinners
School dinners provide an opportunity for the social development of children. Meals are cooked on the premises. The cost is £2 per day, payable in advance on the first day of the week. Money should be put in an envelope and marked with the child’s name, class and the amount enclosed.
Cheques should be made payable to Duxford CofE Community Primary School.
Cambridgeshire Catering Services has launched a new website to provide helpful information about school meals for adults, teachers and pupils. The My School Lunch website is an interactive website designed to encourage children to increase exercise levels and promote healthy eating through educational games, online competitions and the 'Five a Day Fan Club'.

Menu
The menu is on a 3 week cycle and copies are available at the school or you can see it here.
Children are encouraged to eat their main course well, before going on to their dessert, and often are praised for eating well with a sticker that can be shown proudly to parents.

Children may choose on a day-to-day basis whether they wish to have a school dinner.
If a packed lunch is preferred, we ask that all containers are clearly named, drinks are in plastic containers or cartons and a spoon is provided if necessary.

School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme
The school takes part in the national School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme. All children in Foundation and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fruit for their mid-morning snack. They are encouraged to try this everyday and last year we had apples, pears, bananas, satsumas and carrots regularly, with mini cucmbers, tomatoes and strawberries occasionally.
Water
We encourage children to drink water throughout the school day. There are four drinking water fountains in the school and the children bring named water bottles into their classrooms.
